A ten-week Journey toward a healthier life

One of the most valuable endorsements we have at Coastal Trek is that of our previous clientele. Everyone we have had the pleasure of hosting has been so pleased with the time spent at our resort that they are often looking forward to returning. We are very excited to welcome back one of our wonderful guests from 2006 for a ten-week personal health project taking place during the first half of the 2007 season.

James is a young, successful, family man who has made a decision to take a significant period of time to focus on his health and wellbeing. His goal is to live a healthier, longer, more productive life. To achieve this goal James needs to reduce weight and to lower blood pressure, blood sugar and cholesterol. His desire is to emerge from his ten-week stay stronger, leaner, fitter, non-medicated and, most importantly, the best husband and father he can possibly be.

James is joining us for ten consecutive weeks to let us help him reach his goal and during this time we are going to record his progress in a number of ways. We will be posting short video diary segments each week so that anyone can follow James through his time with us and hear his thoughts as he makes progress toward his goals. There will be opportunities for responses, messages of support, and to ask questions. We will be posting a series of Hike statistics to reveal the increase in fitness levels and we will include personal reports from various staff as they work with James.
This is a unique and compelling project and we are grateful to James for joining with us to create a living testament to the principles and values at the core of Coastal Trek Health and Fitness Resort.

Changes: Episode One
James outlines his journey to Coastal Trek and gives some background to his decision to invest ten weeks of his life toward making significant change. His need to lower stress, blood pressure, blood sugar and weight brought him to Coastal Trek Health Resort to work on each facet over a ten week period in an elemental way. Daily exercise in the from of guided hiking, yoga, and gym work and delicious, chef prepared, healthy cuisine are the key components to help him reach his goal. This post provides some of the compelling personal reasons that James is taking such a bold approach to his health.

Changes: Epsiode Two
Without giving too much away, James has had an encouraging start with some pleasing results. The excitement of this new experience is apparent as James describes his first week on the trail.

Changes: Epsiode Three
The second week and James sustains an injury and deals with it well.
His health concerns are beginning to show improvement even at this early stage. Looking forward to the weeks ahead he shows he is willing to hang tough.

Changes: Epsiode Four
The reality of the commitment is making itself felt and time spent at Coastal Trek has drastically improved many of the Health issues that James was hoping to address.

Frustration is starting to creep in as the scale has stalled for the time being.

Changes: Epsiode Five
The intensity of the Physical activity is ramped up this week with some serious hiking and distance covered. James is feeling his core strength improve and taking note of new strength. The weeks are becoming less daunting especially now that James has nearly reached the half way point.

Changes: Epsiode Six Part 1 & Part 2
An overview of weeks 5-7 shows James in fine form. The visible results of his time at Coastal Trek show a happy confident man who has acheived precisely what he set out to achieve. Bouyancy is palpable in this post as James looks ahead to his plan for when he has left Coastal Trek to take on his home life in such a way as to continue his progress.
