Coastal Trek Health Retreat - BC Canada
What to Bring Cuisine

NEW: Expedition Week!

Coastal Trek is excited to announce 'Expedition Week'.

New and exciting Treks through the very best that the Pacific Northwest has to offer - and all designed to compliment the usual seven day program structure. Guided Day trips to pristine and remote British Columbia made simple.

Inspired by a penchant to explore the very best that we can access from our unique location we have compiled some of the most exciting and demanding hikes that you will find in the Pacific northwest. Truly stunning locations that are so remote they are accessible only by extreme means such as float plane, boat or helicopter. With our fortunate spot in the world we are able to get to wonders that few get to witness in person.

Expedition Week is designed to fit with our seven day Health Hiking and Fitness program to create an edgy option for those looking to up the action and adventure quotient. The seven day program activities will continue as usual for those who do not choose the expedition option. When you book one of our expedition weeks you will receive a minimum of three full days of singular hiking experiences.

Jan Nuespiel of Island Alpine Guides is excited to lead his heli access high alpine hikes. The sense of achievement after a day spent with Jan is complimented nicely by the added Expedition Week feature of an inspirational talk from Jan outlining his career guiding throughout the world, most notably, his years as a Heli Ski guide in the Himalayas.

Our friends at Morningstar Marine have already helped us with a landmark boat trip to Cortes Island for the Oyster festival and with all the Porpoise and Sea Lion sightings it lived up to the BC coastal experience big time. You can read about that trip here

With the addition of such remote and dramatic locations we also advise that our Expedition guests consider the possibility of needing to stay overnight in some locations if weather decides to behave contrary to usual indicators. All guides will be well equipped for any necessity so a night away from the Lodge will still be a comfy one. Not to mention an extra adventure to add to the list.

Expedition week will cost an additional 995$CAN on our usual Seven Day Program Rate.

Usual program features will still be in place but three hiking days will be spent engaged in any one of the four features outlined below.

1. Heli access high alpine touring.

Join Jan Nuespiel of Island Alpine Guides for a high country island experience like no other. Jan is quite a character and this trip has always been a big favorite for previous adventurers.

2. Float Plane access hiking with crew boat return.

There are precisely 2 spots within Strathcona Provincial Park that are available for float plane access and we intend to enjoy both! An incredibly scenic trip from start to finish this is a highlight of expedition week. Fly to hiking spots previously impossible to do in one day. We will also be hiking exclusive gulf island trails with a return to the lodge via crew boat and a bonus opportunity to witness the Orca, Seals, and Porpoises that frequent our waters.

3. Multi-sport day.

Canoe, portage, canoe, hike, climb, hike, portage, canoe. If this sounds like your idea of a fun day then you are in for a treat!

4. Float Plane and Surf or Hike day on the wild west coast of Nootka Island.

This is truly a unique day where you get to travel by float plane to the west coast and enjoy a full day surf lesson in the rugged pacific coast of Vancouver Island with the good folks at Tatchu surf. Nowhere else in the world can you watch bald eagles while you surf and watch the black bears turn over rocks at low tide. A singular surf experience. If surf is not your favorite then enjoy a full day hiking on Nootka Island, a place few get to hike due to its remote location.

Expedition week is brought to you with the kind support of:
