Event:            Alpine Market & Culinary Festival (Local event)

Date:                        Friday, September 5th to Sunday September 7th.

Where:            Mt. Washington

Details:            This 1st annual event promises to highlight the diversity of the Comox Valley and the Islands in a ‘locavore’ weekend.

Join us for this unique opportunity to mix, mingle, graze and learn from acclaimed chefs, producers, harvesters, restaurateurs, vintners and artisans visiting Mt. Washington to celebrate our local-flavour businesses.

As a community sponsor of this event coastal trek will be proudly supporting the many volunteers, organizers, producers and chefs involved in this muli-day festival. Coastal Trek Head Chef Kathy Jerritt will be representing her (and our) commitment and belief in all things local!

Coast to Coast for the Boss!

Jim has forged the Coastal trek experience ever since his own health and fitness active holiday experience in 2002. He is the original visionary for our resort and the driving force behind the inception, development, and fruition of the Coastal Trek experience. In addition to creating our family business he has also experienced the type of physical and emotional strain that comes along with such a mammoth task. In his unique and typically indomitable fashion he has come up with a plan to apply the Coastal Trek principles fully in his own daily routine.
It seems only right that our leader should 'walk the talk' so to speak.
Well, he is about to do so in a big way.
Strathcona Provincial Park very nearly straddles the entire width of Vancouver Island and our lead hiking guide, Mike Blake is currently planning a hiking route from the headwaters of Bedwell sound all the way across the Park back to Coastal Trek resort so that Jim can complete a guided, coast to coast, on foot, epic expedition.
60 Miles. Mountain Tops. Deep Valleys. Lakes (including Big Jim and Little Jim lake!). Rivers. Canyons.
Currently starting his training with local hikes and jogs, Jim will carefully increase his level of activity culminating with a typical Coastal Trek 7 day Program almost immediately prior to his ultimate Trek.
The guys will be camping and traversing for up to seven days and the seventh night will be a comfy one with RnR around the fireplace at Coastal Trek Lodge. Nice to walk accross such an incredible Island and have the last stage of your journey be launched from your own resort!
The trip is planned for early September and in addition to the brilliant guiding skills of our Mike, we will be supported by our great friends at Island Alpine Guides for the highest sections of the Traverse.
